Jennifer Willging is Associate Professor of French at The Ohio State University. She earned her PhD from Northwestern University specializing in 20th- and 21st-century French literature and culture. She has published a book titled Telling Anxiety (University of Toronto Press) on “anxious” narration in women’s writing in postwar France, as well as numerous articles on French writers from Louis-Ferdinand Céline to Michel Houellebecq. She has a special interest in France during the Second World War, when literary and cultural output was deeply influenced by four years of German occupation. She is currently working on a new book on contemporary French critiques of happiness as dominant cultural value.
