Dr. Glenn Dynner is Professor and Chair of the Religion Department at Sarah Lawrence College and a 2019-20 Guggenheim fellow. He is author of “Men of Silk”: The Hasidic Conquest of Polish Jewish Society (Oxford University Press, 2006), and Yankel’s Tavern: Jews, Liquor & Life in the Kingdom of Poland (Oxford University Press, 2014). He is Co-editor of the journal Shofar: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Jewish Studies, a former Fulbright Scholar, NEH Senior Scholar, Member of the Princeton Institute for Advanced Studies, and Yale Senior Research Scholar. He is currently writing a monograph entitled A Higher Education: Hasidism in Modern Poland through the Holocaust.

A Survey of Jewish History
A medical doctor by training and a self-taught professor in religion, philosophy and ethics at Furman University, Dr. Leffert brings his popular history of religion course to our RoundTable community. The seminar is a survey of the interaction of Judaism, Christianity, Islam and the secular world from Biblical to modern times. Among the questions to be explored: 1) Where did the myth that Jews killed Christ originate?
